Balance festival is a three-day celebration of food, fitness, music and wellbeing. The happy and healthy way to kickstart the festival season…There’s no better way to welcome the summer than with an event that celebrates the good stuff in life. There was everything from delicious food to fun fitness and accessible wellbeing (and that’s not forgetting the pleasure of a glass or two of prosecco).
Although not exhibiting ourselves we joined fellow girlboss Kat from Yogibare to experience the weekend and lend a helping hand. The weekend was full of fun-loving foodies, fantastic fitness trainers, awe-inspiring yogis, and most importantly, real people with a quest to enjoy life. We have had an amazing weekend and feel so motivated and inspired.
Here's a glimpse into what was on offer over the weekend.
Mouth-watering menus designed by some of the UK’s best chefs and healthy restaurants. We discovered the medicinal properties of wholefoods with Dale Pinnock ‘The Medicinal Chef’ and healthy food-to-go with Stephanie Johnson’s Pollen + Grace. For the particularly ravenous, you can’t beat a good burger – healthy and hearty vegan burgers from Vurger. Each day we sampled a different main meal that was on sale as well as nibbling on all of the delicious samples.
Protein brand Neat Nutrition provided post workout replenishment in their Refuel Café. Ozone Coffee Roasters shared their insights on the best nut milk pairings for your coffee. The cherry infused almond milk cold brew latte was to die for! Fancy something harder? We did after a long day on our feet. Balance Festival had us covered, with bars dedicated to some of the finer things in life. Clean cocktails from Twisted Halo really helped us unwind after the long days. They were absolutely delicious, cocktails made from coconut water and vodka...yes please!
The Live Cooking Theatre had lots of exciting demos scheduled. Plant-based workshops from Bettina Campolucci of Bettina’s Kitchen, we learnt all there is to know about fermented foods with Irena Macri of Eat Drink Paleo, and found out how to use turmeric three different ways with The Flexi Foodie, Julie Montagu. We were front row for the ultimate Fitness Feast hosted by Zanna Van Dijk, and also featuring Healthy Chef Steph, The Food Medic, and Clean Eating Alice. Trying not to fan girl to hard was difficult. The workshop we felt most inspired by was the Kombucha demo with Gina from Wildfizz Kombucha. It's been a while since we last made a batch, I think it's time to grab a SCOBY and get brewing again.
We were introduced to a whole host of London’s best fitness offerings, from Another Space, Equinox and Barry’s Bootcamp to Boom Cycle, F45, UN1T, Xtend Barre and Triyoga. We got to try out new workouts with taster sessions, or go all out with a Balance signature collision-style workout, paring two different instructors from completely different disciplines to create a workout perfectly choreographed to a live DJ's. As we were helping out with Yogi Bare we didn't get a chance to try out every session and also didn't fancy being a sweaty mess all day. We had heard a lot about Barre around, it seems to be the new on trend workout. We gave it a go, I must admit you need to have some rhythm and coordination. We're definitely more suited to a spin or boxing class but it was good to try out a new style of workout, the ache was reeeal!
And thats not it! I could continue listing all of the great activities and exhibitors from the weekend. Balance had everything covered. The latest sportswear, indie athleisure brands and tech weareables. Incisive talks and the in-depth debate has really been inspiring. From the industry-focused Health & Wellness Summit, to the discussions taking place in the LAB and the Welltodo Carreer Clinic, we got to access all the latest knowledge shaping up the world of wellness.
